Chemistry & PhysicsNature Lovers & Sky Gazers

The UW-Whitewater Observatory will open up its telescopes (weather permitting) for all ages. See planets, star clusters and nebulae through our telescopes! Indoors, we will provide examples of how astronomers break light up into a rainbow spectrum to learn about the chemical composition of stars and nebulae. Our computers will also be set up to allow you to look at data from modern telescopes – on a “citizen science” website set up by Professor Bob Benjamin – and make discoveries for yourself! If the weather is cloudy, we will also give tours of the big telescope and show you how it operates, even if the dome has to stay closed.

Free parking closest to the observatory is in Lot 2, 203 N. Prince Street, Whitewater, WI 53190.
