Update

Hello Falcons,

Week 7 of summer break has seen our new library "Fab Lab" take shape along with other bathroom upgrades within the building.   It is apparent we are getting closer to August as there have been more and more staff and trainings in the building in the last week.  Here are FIVE things to know this week.

  1. Our 4k/5k will have familiar faces in similar roles this coming year.  Mrs. Selvey will be our 4k teacher and Ms. Murtell will continue in 5k for the 21/22 school year.
  2. Additionally, we will implement looping from 4k to 5k starting this year.  What does looping mean?  Your 4k student will remain with their same teacher for 5k in the following school year.  Why looping?  Schools that have effectively implemented the looping structure point to the following benefits: improved relationships among students and between teachers and students, more efficient instruction, higher attendance rates, reduced student retentions, fewer referrals of students to special education programs and improved student discipline.  More information about looping can be found HERE
  3. Fontana is seeking a speech and language pathologist for the upcoming school year.  If you know of anyone interested in being an SLP please contact Steve Torrez at storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us or 262-275-6881 ext. 205.
  4. Our strategic goals team has collected and reviewed data from surveys, interviews, and group discussions.  The 4 "Pillars" of focus identified for our district are 1. High Quality Teaching and Learning  2. Communication and Community Engagement  3. Retaining and Recruiting High Quality Staff and 4.  Operational and Financial Management.  We will be working with our School Board on more specific goals to drive our daily, weekly, annual excellence in education.
  5. Our Falcon School team continues to work on a daily basis with local health officials, our school team, school board, and surrounding districts to develop the best "return to school" plan possible.  Student and staff health/wellness/safety remain our priority.

Our first day of school will be September 1st with the doors opening at 8am.  Remember, learning will start at 8:15a this year with free breakfast and lunch available for all students.  Have a great week Falcons!!
