Update

Hello Falcons,

Our 24th week brought about some outside weather, finally!  Our PE and recess time outside is so important to our wellness and learning stamina.  Please remember to have your Falcon dressed in winter weather appropriate clothing, no matter the grade, as we intend to be outside as much as possible.  Here are FIVE things to know this week!

  1. Our staff/school has been given dates for our vaccines, which will impact our school calendar.  The changes will be as follows:  March 1st will now be an attendance day for all students (former staff inservice/snow make-up day) and Friday March 5th will be a staff inservice day (non-attendance day for students).  Additionally, March 19th will be a full-day of school (formerly a half-day) and March 26th will be a half-day (formerly a full-day).  This will provide our staff the opportunity to get vaccinations without missing any in person learning time.  Please contact our office with any questions.
  2. This is another reminder that we are excited to offer a new Drone Club.  We are reaching out to our Falcon community to see who is interested, skilled, and/or wanting to engage our students in a new and exciting club.  Please email Mr. Torrez, storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us, with your interest/feedback.
  3. Our snowman making contest winner is the Ferretti family!  They submitted the winning snowman creation and were awarded a $50 Geno's East gift certificate, which was kindly donated by an anonymous community member.  Thank you and congratulations!
  4. Fontana School is excited to announce that we have submitted a grant for a Fab Lab, which is a project/STEM based program.  We will be remaking our library into this project based STEM lab and we will be sharing updates and pictures about this exciting endeavor.  We can't wait to provide enhance our innovative offerings to our school community. HERE is a link offering some insight into the benefits of STEM and project based learning.  More information to be shared as we move ahead with our planning stages.
  5. Our school district is starting a comprehensive Strategic Goal planning that will set goals/direction for our entire school district.  This exciting process will engage all stakeholders in our vision/mission/values/goals, including measurable outcomes, to drive our district forward.  We are in the beginning stages so if you are interested in being a part of the Strategic Goals team please contact Steve Torrez at (storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us) with your questions and/or interest.  Meetings will be starting in early March.

Lastly, if you haven't heard already, we will be having a spring track season for our middle school Falcons.  We can't wait to get our students engaged in some extra-curricular activities this school year.  Be on the lookout for some track information in the coming weeks.  Exciting times in Fontana and we are thankful for all you!  Have a great weekend.
