Update

Hello Falcons!

Welcome to the Holiday edition of the Friday Falcon Five.  Yes, it is being delivered on a Wednesday :)  We have so much to be thankful for this season and our Falcon Family is a big reason for our gratitude.

While reflecting on this past year, it has become abundantly clear that every person, every student, every family is critical to our overall success!  There is no other way to get through a pandemic than together!  While walking into work this morning, after our first big snowfall, I saw Falcon families gearing up for some fun on the sledding hill, our superintendent and custodian shoveling, and the snow removal services finishing the parking lot clearing.  We ALL make a difference, we ALL contribute, and we ALL are Falcons, #BetterTogether.  Here are FIVE things to know this holiday week:

  1. While on break, it is still important to notify our school of any close contact, positive COVID tests, or any pending COVID testing.  Our COVID hotline is 608-728-7851 where you can leave a confidential voicemail that is monitored by our district nurse and administration.
  2. We will return for a Virtual Learning Week on January 4th through 8th.  All students (4K - 8th grade) will be learning virtually to help keep our school community safe upon return from the holidays.  Our daycare (3K and younger) will operate as normal in-person on January 4th.  All students will return to in-person learning on Monday, January 11, 2021.
  3. Our first semester will be ending on January 20th.  We will be finalizing our schedules and student learning plans for second semester in the next two weeks.  Please contact storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us for any questions or updates.
  4. This school year has provided many challenges, however, we continue to add to our staff and support services to ensure our students are learning at high levels.  I would like to introduce two new additions to our Falcon team for the remainder of this school year.   Ms. Monica Torres will join our 4th grade team starting second semester, which will allow Mrs. Lisa Popp to return to her position as special education teacher, full-time.  We have also added Mr. Austin Hoey as a long-term substitute that will be with us the rest of the school year.  We are fortunate to add two great staff to our team during this challenging time to continue to provide high levels of learning for ALL.
  5. We are excited to welcome back two staff that were out with their new babies this past semester.  Mrs. Mallory Booth and Mrs. Megan Wenzel will be back January 4th and we are excited to have them back with our team to start the new year.  Our health office and elementary team will be glad to have them back full-time.

While 2020 has been a year that will forever be remembered in history books for a host of challenges, there are many positives we can take away.  Family is the most important thing we have and how we treat/take care of each other makes a huge difference in our world.  Be well, stay safe, and see you all in 2021!!  Happy New Year Falcons.
