Hello Falcons!!

We had a triumphant return to school after our spring break in Week 31!! As you know, March 20th was the official start of spring, however, we do have snow in the forecast for Monday so please be sure to have your Falcon dressed for all types of weather. Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We are less than a week out until opening night of Annie Jr. What started on January 6th will become the formal showing of Annie Jr. on Friday, April 11th at 7pm. We will have a matinee to follow on Saturday, April 12th at 2pm!! We look forward to seeing you all there!!

  2. This Wednesday, April 9th we will have our fourth edition of "Let's Talk" with administrator Steve Torrez at Coffee Mill. Stop by for some coffee, Q and A and information about school funding. This open format is to provide access to our school administration regarding our district, the state of education, and to provide insight into all things public school. See you from 8:15a to 9am on Wednesday, April 9th.

  3. Our 4th and 5th grade students were treated to a presentation by Andrew Aslesen from the Wisconsin Rural Water Association. Mr. Aslesen brought various types of rocks and minerals, as well as a working model of how precipitation penetrates the various layers of soil and sediment underground, eventually making its way into well systems and our own faucets. Students were made aware of the effects of pollution, the processes of filtration, and the importance of conservation for our world's most valuable natural resource.

  4. Congratulations  to Ximena and Harrison in 3rd grade. Their water conservation posters they created in art class won 1st and 2nd place respectively in their age group, receiving the most ballots from the annual WRWA Technical conference held in Green Bay. Thank you to every student who participated in this contest. Fontana is proud to have students who use their talents to promote sustaining and nurturing our environment.

  5. Our 7th graders had the opportunity to attend the Lyric Opera in Chicago this past Thursday with the three other BFASA K-8 schools. Thank you to the Lake Geneva Lyric Opera for providing tickets and funding for this unique experience. Our students represented themselves and our school with high regard. Well done!

  6. BONUS--Attention 8th grade families: Please sign and return the permission slip for the upcoming field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago, if your child plans on attending. Earlier responses help greatly with the planning, reservation, and booking processes.

PTSO Spotlight--On Sunday, May 4th, we will be offering an opportunity for family photos with Elyse Bullard Photography at LaRocque Farms.  Each 15-minute session is $200 and includes all images and an online gallery. 50% of the proceeds will benefit the Fontana PTSO.  There is limited space available so please email info@elysebullardphotography.com to reserve your spot!

Have a great weekend Falcons and see you all Monday!! As a reminder, we will be heading into our testing time of year where we benchmark student learning growth and prepare for the FORWARD test. Attendance and active participation is at a premium!!
