Hello Falcons!!

Week 8 of the school year means we have officially completed two months of the 24/25 school year already!! It's hard to believe since most days have still felt a lot like summer! One of the great events of fall is the Fall Fun Fest, which took place this past Thursday. Our school is literally transformed into a spooky fun fest in one week, however, the planning and preparation takes months and months and done so well thanks to our PTSO! Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Halloween is this Thursday, October 31st. Our annual Halloween parade for 4k-5th grade will take place on the 31st starting at 2pm. This includes classroom festivities to follow the parade. Our guidelines for Halloween are LINKED HERE.

  2. We are excited to provide personal finance in our middle school math class this year. We will be taking time each month to cover topics such as savings, checking and more pertaining to personal finance!

  3. Each week our elementary students meet with our social worker to review problem solving and social/emotional learning. Topics include dealing with frustration, how to apologize, respect and so much more. Learning problem solving and communication skills is vital along with academics. Sample lessons linked HERE.

  4. Each week our middle school students work on identifying goals, personal habits, attributes/skills, and personal development. Sample lessons include defining attributes we all have (ex. perseverance, humor, task switching etc.) and how different situations may require us to "dial up" or "dial down" certain attributes for success.

  5. Please note that our school will be used by our local police department and surrounding police departments for routine training in the evening when students are gone. School safety is a priority and we share our resources with area PD and fire departments to partner in our safety measures.

  6. PTSO Spotlight--Next week is Halloween and we are excited to celebrate with classroom parties and amazing costumes, but some parents may not be as excited about all the candy their child(ren) will bring home on Halloween or may have leftover candy they don’t want around the house.  Well, the PTSO has a solution!  This year, we are partnering with Soldiers' Angels Treats for Troops.  Beginning November 1st through November 8th, students may donate their candy for the troops.  Students may also, and are highly encouraged to, write a letter.  The class that brings in the most candy / letters will win a pizza party.

Have a great weekend Falcons and see you all Monday. Remember to look for the good, the hearts that show up in our daily life, and be the reason someone has a great day!!
