first grade

Hello Falcons!!

The first week of the 24/25 school year is in the books! What a great week filled with learning, laughter, and fun. We welcomed new and returning Falcons with optimism and excitement! We can't wait for a wonderful school year. Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Please remember, our pick up and drop off lines can get long and the people/car traffic is very busy!! If you plan to walk into the school, please park your vehicle and walk across the marked cross walks. Also, the youngest students are at the South end of the building and families picking up students 3rd grade and younger can move to open spaces on the South end of the building to help the line move quicker. Every year takes a few days, but we will get pick up down to about 5-7 minutes beginning to end. Safety first Falcons!

  2. Our Fontana PTSO is an amazing, parent run organization, that needs your assistance! Our long standing parents that have coordinated our PTSO for many years will soon be "graduating" to high school and we are looking for parents to help take on some of these roles! Please consider joining and helping keep our PTSO the great organization is has been for so long. (All forms sent to Falcon parent email for reference)

  3. At the beginning of each year, and 3-4 times total during the school year, we complete our benchmark testing to track learning, growth, and areas for extension and support. Our Fall benchmark testing (3-8th grade) will take place this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Like all school days, please be sure your student gets good rest, has a healthy breakfast and is ready to show off their learning! Kindergarten through 2nd grade will complete their fall benchmark in November.

  4. Looking ahead, our Fontana Picture Day is September 24th. If you are wondering what is going on at our school you can visit our website and view the calendar (LINK HERE) Additionally, did you know Fontana has an app? Go to your app store and download the Falcon App by searching "Fontana J8 School District".

  5. If you haven't been in the school this fall, please note that our main office is now in the vestibule when you walk in. Please check in the office on your right when entering the building as our vestibule is now locked for safety. The door bell and main entrance still operates the same way.

  6. PTSO Spotlight--Do you own a business?  Did you know there are several opportunities to support the PTSO through advertising, sponsorships and donating raffle/silent auction items for upcoming events?  See the attached letter and form for more information.  Email the PTSO at
